A COMMUNITY project for Caernarfon
Engedi 2.0 is a not-for-profit community regeneration project based in Caernarfon. It is restoring the historic Capel Engedi and developing it into a long-term community resource, bringing together heritage, learning, creativity, wellbeing, and local participation in one connected project.
Why Engedi 2.0
exists
Caernarfon has a strong Welsh identity, a rich cultural life, and many organisations already supporting the town. But community engagement also identified gaps, including more opportunities for young people, places to learn skills, creative activities, and spaces that help reduce isolation.
Engedi exists to add to that work by creating more opportunities for people to learn, create, support their wellbeing, and take part in community life. Its aim is not to replace what already exists, but to strengthen the wider network of people and organisations working for Caernarfon’s future.

Who Engedi 2.0 is for
Engedi is intended for people across Caernarfon and the surrounding area, including young people, adults developing new skills, artists, makers, Welsh speakers and learners, people seeking wellbeing support, volunteers, community groups, and local organisations.
Some people may come to learn or take part in activities. Others may contribute knowledge, lead projects, collaborate, or help shape how Engedi develops.
Growing through collaboration
Engedi's direction has been informed by community engagement, conversations with local people, and relationships with organisations already working in Caernarfon.
Community members have shared local needs and suggested possible uses for the space, including activities for young people, places to learn skills, Welsh classes, arts activities, and spaces that help reduce isolation. Conversations with local organisations have also helped Engedi identify shared priorities, possible partnerships, and areas where the project could add value without duplicating existing work.
